A sign of the DJ times... (Watch)

I've been DJ-ing, in some way shape or form since I was a wee lad.  I've since witnessed the art develop, grow, morph and technologically blow my mind - all of that at varying speeds and waves - over the course of time.  I remember when digital DJ-ing was in its infancy.  I also remember my take on it ("I will never switch over, never give up my vinyl).  While I never gave up my vinyl, I did end up switching over.  The biggest advantage I saw (early on) was being able to leave the (HEAVY) record box at home and how good it felt not to walk six flights with just a backpack.  I've not looked back, BUT this video taking us inside Swedish DJ duo, DADA LIFE's DJ Bag was a heavy reminder of just how far we've come.  FAR.  I am happy.

Take a look for yourself and keep watching for the vinyl/records.  Enjoy!

Traktor and DJ Unkut - Go!

One in my top three pieces of software, Native Instrument's Traktor Pro (with guest appearances by NI's Maschine, Traktor Butter Rugs and a sleek -looking Vestax Digi-mixer) is showcased here with the slick cuts of (once again) DJ Unkut.  What a percussive routine...

DJ UNKUT - One Word: WOW

When the infamous DJ Craze says pay attention to a particular musical something/someone or other, it would behoove you to take heed.  I'm glad I know this - and, I did.  And I quote:

And, here's what I learned...

He is, in fact, "ssiickkk!!"  It's nice to hear a Turntablist (aka Scratch DJ) with skills and musicality like this fella right here.  Please enjoy!

Power couple. Power moves. The marriage of NI and SSL.

I don't throw compliments around and take those I throw seriously.  Ready?  Here comes one now...

Faust & Shortee (Turntablism's power couple) show off (well) on my favorite controller (the Traktor X1) and rock-solid Serato Scratch Live (they play really well together, apparently).  Shortee is tight on this one.  Faust is, well, Faustastic.  What more can I say?  Oh yeah, this: peep the custom graphics on their set-up.  I like.

My New Favorite Toys. NI Traktor Scratch Pro and the X1 Controller.

Now, this may not be a new video, per se, but every time I watch it I realize just how stoked I am that I made te move from my (longtime pal) Rane TTM-57SL and Serato Scratch Live to Native Instruments Traktor Scratch Pro and the X1 controller.  It's reinvigorated my love of spinning - completely.

In this video a long time favorite (and 3X DMC World Champion) DJ Craze from Miami blazes through a set that wouldn't have been possible in this way just years ago.

Trust me when I tell you - I was front row to witness Craze's mad routines before DVS systems (see funniness below).
I had hair under that cap, btw...
